FAQs
1) How much is a typical headshot session in NYC? This depends on how many people are being photographed, as well as what is needed for the headshots. For your standard white background headshot for up to 10 people, packages begin at $2k. For headshots taken outdoors or in the office using natural light, sessions can begin at $1.2k. The most accurate way to receive a quote is to contact Emily with specific details of what is needed.
2) Do you work outside of NYC? Yes! We are always up for traveling. For travel to North and Central NJ, we typically charge an additional $600 for the day. For travel to Philadelphia, South NJ and the surrounding areas, we typically charge an additional $800 for the day. We often work on the west coast and can potentially line up shoots to help cut down costs for travel. We are able to travel outside of the country and our insurance covers this.
3) What is your process from booking to shooting, to delivering like? First we love as much of a detailed description of your photo needs emailed to us. Within 24 hours you will receive a qoute as well as a turnaround time. We are happy to hop on a quick call after this to discuss any other needs, especially if this is a multi day conference or a unique portrait session. Once terms are accepted, we send over a contract. We typically ask for a thirty percent deposit upfront and the remaining amount is due after you receive the photos. Payment in full must be made in order for you to download the images no matter what the shoot is. A few days prior to the shoot, we check in to confirm time and location. On the day of the shoot, we always arrive early and check in with our point of contact to briefly go over the shot list and if they have any questions. We strive to have a very quick turnaround time of less than a week for photos. We know how important it is to get images up on social media quickly, so we can send photos the day of as well.
4) What does ‘fully edited’ mean? In your qoute and contract, you’ll see that images will be delivered at full resolution and fully edited. This means that our team has color corrected, brightened, sharpened etc all of the best photos from your session. We typically send a majority of the photos unless there are very similar images, or eyes are closed etc. We strive to send you nearly all the best photos edited unless you state otherwise. We do not send RAW files and you are not allowed to further edit our images. If you have a specific request for further edits, we are almost always happy to accommodate for an additional fee typically running between $2-$12 per request. Such as whitening teeth, removing someone from a photo etc
5) I hate being photographed, help! We do too! Ha! That’s why we strive on giving direction without being overbearing. If you resonate with our work, it hopefully means that you see there is an ease to those we photograph. We do what we have to do for the best shot, (hopefully) without stressing anyone out! Our lifestyle shoots are a mix of staging and also just letting you and your coworkers hang out for a moment. Yes, we are there with big cameras but we give you the space and time to just relax.
6) Can we always expect Emily to be at the shoot? Typically yes, but if not Emily then definitely Kevin. Emily is entirely in charge of setting up the shoots and editing and delivering photographs. Kevin and Emily have worked together for over six years and their style of shooting is done under ‘Emily Frances Olson’ so you can always expect work that you initially liked when you booked us.
